I’ve sat out on my balcony maybe twice, but when I was on the streets in Cuba looking up, there was always someone there, just watching. I think seeing everyone go by provides a sense of entertainment in a place that in order to surf the Internet you have to go purchase a Wi-Fi card off a street corner. This was a new concept to me since we have Internet access everywhere we go. It was freeing and nerve-wracking going to a new place where I don’t speak the language and not having a phone to rely on. Cuba was the first country I visited. I am truly fortunate to have had this opportunity since many people may never get the chance to go. I hope these photographs help convey a sense of what this country is like. I was stuck in a dull, colorless Kansas winter. After landing in Cuba, I was able to embrace the climate, culture, and color of their country.
